The independent membership organisation that unites end-users, builders, researchers, educators and leaders, equipping them with the competence, connections and practical tools to develop, adopt and govern artificial intelligence responsibly, at scale, for the benefit of the whole United Kingdom.
Who we are for
The UK AI Council is a membership organisation created for the full AI ecosystem: end-users who need to adopt the technology, builders who create it, thought leaders who shape its direction, and the educators and institutions that prepare the next generation.
The gap we fill
Becoming a true AI nation requires more than strategy documents and investment announcements. It requires a broad, competent base of people and organisations who understand how to use, govern and advance AI effectively. That is the gap we fill.
Through structured membership pathways, practical training and recognition, a national events programme, academic partnerships and evidence-based insight, we support individuals and organisations at every stage of their AI journey, while helping government and industry stay grounded in what is actually happening on the ground.

Our membership base generates real data on skills gaps, AI readiness and adoption, useful to members, policymakers and industry alike.
How we work
We do not create new standards for the sake of it. We help members navigate existing frameworks, including NIST, ISO and the EU AI Act, and surface practical best practice rather than adding another competing standard.
We do not lobby for any single commercial interest. We exist to raise the collective capability of the United Kingdom, and the independence statement in the footer of this site sets out what that means in practice.
