Cancellation & refunds
How to cancel, what you get back, and how long it takes.
Your statutory right to cancel
If you are a consumer in the UK, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you 14 days from the date of purchase to cancel and receive a refund, without giving a reason.
This applies to paid membership and to certification examinations.
One important exception. If you ask us to start providing a service within the 14 days and we do, you may lose the right to cancel, or we may charge for what has been provided. If you access an examination within the 14 days, you can no longer cancel it. See below.
To cancel within 14 days, email us using the address on our privacy policy. We will refund within 14 days of receiving your request, to the payment method you used.
Membership
Cancelling within 14 days
Full refund, subject to the exception above.
Cancelling after 14 days
You can cancel at any time from your account or by emailing us.
Membership continues to the end of the period you have paid for, and does not renew. We do not offer a pro rata refund for the unused portion.
Free membership
Community and Student membership can be cancelled at any time, at no cost.
Unsubscribing is not cancelling
The unsubscribe link in our emails stops The UK AI Briefing. It does not cancel your membership, and you keep every other benefit of your tier.
To cancel membership itself, use your account or email us.
Certification examinations
Before you access the examination
Full refund within 14 days of purchase.
After you access the examination
No refund. Once you have accessed the examination (the access link has been used), you have received what you paid for, and the content cannot be returned. This is stated before you buy, not only here.
If you fail
A resit costs £75. A failed examination is not grounds for a refund. The fee purchases the attempt, not the outcome.
If we cancel or reschedule
If we cancel an examination, or reschedule it and the new arrangement does not suit you, you may have a full refund or transfer to another sitting.
Events
Free events
Tell us if you can no longer attend, so the place can go to someone else. Nothing is charged.
Paid events
All our own events are currently free. If that changes, this section will be updated with a cancellation window and refund position before any paid event opens for registration.
If we cancel
If we cancel a paid event, you receive a full refund. If we change the date or venue materially, you may cancel for a full refund. We are not liable for travel or accommodation costs.
Third party events
Where we exhibit at an event organised by someone else, such as The Business Show London, your registration is with that organiser. Their cancellation terms apply, not ours.
Sponsorship and partnership
Governed by the separate written agreement with each partner. This policy does not apply.
How to request a refund
Email us using the address on our privacy policy, with:
- Your name and the email address on your account
- What you are cancelling
- The date of purchase
We will acknowledge within 3 working days and refund within 14 days of accepting the request, to the original payment method.
We do not refund to a different card or account than the one used to pay. This protects both of us against fraud.
If you are not a consumer
Where you purchase as a business, including corporate membership and examinations bought by an employer for staff, the statutory 14-day right does not apply. The terms of the relevant agreement govern instead.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled a cancellation or refund, email us using the address on our privacy policy and we will look at it again.
