These terms
These terms apply when you join as a member, register for an event, purchase a certification examination, or otherwise use ukaic.org.
By joining or purchasing, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not join or purchase.
We may change these terms. Where a change materially affects an existing member, we will give 30 days’ notice by email, and you may cancel before it takes effect.
Membership
Tiers
Individual membership is offered at several tiers, priced as shown on our membership page. Community Member and Student / Apprentice membership are free. Affiliate membership is £10 a year. Associate, Practitioner and Fellow are priced as shown on our membership page.
If we raise the price of any paid tier, we will email existing members at least 30 days before their next renewal and apply the new price from that renewal onward, not before.
Corporate membership is agreed individually per organisation, rather than priced at a fixed rate.
Academic partnership is free to UK universities and further education institutions.
What membership includes
Membership includes The UK AI Briefing, invitations to Council events, access to learning resources and community, and the benefits described for your tier on our website at the time you join.
Membership does not include certification examinations, which are purchased separately, or access to any third party’s training.
Joining
You must give accurate information and confirm your email address. We may refuse or cancel a membership where information given is false.
Student membership requires a UK academic email address, or manual verification.
Term and renewal
Paid membership runs for twelve months from the date you join, and renews automatically at the price stated for your tier at the time you joined, unless you cancel first.
We will email you a reminder before your renewal payment is taken, stating the amount and date.
Cancellation
See our Cancellation and Refunds policy.
Certification examinations
What you are buying
You are purchasing an examination. You are not purchasing training, and passing is not guaranteed.
Training that prepares candidates for our examinations is delivered separately by authorised training providers. Completing any training does not confer certification. Certification is awarded solely on the basis of passing the examination.
What certification is, and is not
Our certifications are industry certifications issued by an independent membership organisation. They are not regulated qualifications and do not sit on any national qualifications framework.
Price and access
The UKAIC AI Foundation examination costs £150. A resit costs £75.
After purchase you will receive access details by email.
Sitting the examination
The examination is delivered under supervision by authorised providers, closed book, over 120 minutes, and consists of 120 multiple choice questions. The pass mark is 70 per cent.
Cheating, impersonation and sharing examination content are prohibited and may result in the result being void and future access being refused.
Events
Registering for an event does not guarantee a place where places are limited. We will confirm attendance separately.
We may change the date, venue, format or programme of an event. Where a change is material and the event is paid, you may cancel for a refund.
For events organised by third parties at which we exhibit, that organiser’s terms apply to your attendance, not ours.
Sponsorship
Sponsorship and partnership arrangements are governed by a separate written agreement. These terms do not apply to them.
Your account
You are responsible for the email address associated with your account. Access is by a code sent to that address, so anyone with access to your inbox can access your account.
Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- Use our services unlawfully, or to harm others
- Misrepresent your membership tier, or claim a certification you have not been awarded
- Use our name, logo or marks without written permission, except to accurately state that you are a member or hold a certification
- Copy, redistribute or resell our content, including The UK AI Briefing and examination material
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
- Submit automated or bulk registrations
We may suspend or cancel membership for a material breach. No refund is given where we cancel for breach.
Our content
Content on our website and in The UK AI Briefing belongs to us or our licensors. You may read and share it for your own use. You may not republish it commercially without permission.
The Briefing links to and summarises third party reporting. Those sources belong to their publishers.
Accuracy and independence
We take care over what we publish, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current or free from error. Nothing we publish is legal, financial or professional advice.
We are independent of any vendor or platform. We do not endorse the products or services of any organisation, including our sponsors and partners, unless we say so explicitly.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
